How to Delight Your Customers
Picture this: you’re visiting your favorite coffeeshop. Would you rather walk into the shop and have the barista greet you by name, make a delicious latte in a beautiful mug with the coffeeshop’s logo on it, and invite you to sit and relax in a cozy environment?
Or would you prefer to have to get the barista’s attention, as she begrudgingly takes your order, hands it to you in a plain paper cup, and bids you good day?
I’m guessing you would prefer the first option! Most people would, including your customers. We all want to feel cared for, and delighting your customers through each step of their experience with you is a great way to build brand loyalty and support.
With that in mind, here are three ways you can improve your customer experience today!
Business Thank You Cards
Start including some pretty, branded thank you cards with your orders! Your invoice or order slip may already include a default thank you note, but it adds a whole new level of care and consideration when you include a beautiful thank you card to a package – especially if that card includes a coupon for next time!
Your customers will love opening up their order to see a carefully designed card inside. Not sure how to design one? I’ve got three Canva templates in my shop you can use as a jumping off point.
Custom Branded Packaging
These days, custom branded packaging is achievable AND affordable!
To create an experience for your customers that’s even more delightful (and fun), why not order boxes, paper, stickers, stamps, and tape with your logo or brand icons on them? When your package arrives, your customer will absolutely love unboxing it – and they’ll be more likely to remember you because your packaging was so cute!
A few sites I have used in the past are Noissue and EcoEnclose – both are great options, and both will allow you to use your brand effectively while bringing your customer experience to life in a beautiful way.
Here are a few examples of how you can do that!
Order packing tape with your logo on it! Tape up your boxes in style and your customers will be sure to remember you.
2. Branded wrapping paper or tissue paper is such a cute way to package up your order! Do you have custom brand illustrations or icons? Try asking your graphic designer to make a little pattern for you to upload to Noissue when you order new paper!
3. Stamped or printed cardboard boxes to ship your orders in. Etsy has so many shops that offer custom stamps with your logo! Plus, you can use the stamp for many other marketing uses…
Following Up
This is the ultimate personal touch. I believe that building a business and a brand is all about community and growing your foundation of people. People respond so well to personal touches and contact – it’s what sets you apart from the big box stores.
In light of that, why not send your customer a little note a few weeks after their order to see how they are enjoying their product/s? This could be:
An automation you set up on your online store, where a customer automatically gets an email from you asking how they’re doing, how they’re enjoying the product, and maybe even requesting a review!
A little handwritten note in the mail if you’re leaning more analog!
Thinking Long Term
I’ll be honest, it can be so hard NOT to compare your little business to someone else’s. But I’ve learned that thinking long term with my customers and clients is ultimately what will grow your business. These little personal touches to delight them are so important.
